About the Artist
Leona spent over 30 plus in the beauty industry as a hairstylist. A world she absolutely loved and enjoyed. Which, in her case, means that her first 30 years of artful creations took place on humans. Perhaps that’s why, when Leona finally began hanging out with stretched canvases and tubes of paint- she had absolutely no fear. Nobody to consult but herself. If she messed up… her canvases forgave her. And so she threw more paint everywhere (well- almost everywhere). The freedom she found back then (in 2007) is still evident in the whys, ways and what she paints to this very day.
Leona’s work is playful, free and full of feelings (mostly joy) and lotsa light.
Her favourite mediums: watercolour, acrylic, collage, alcohol ink, pastels, pen, pencil, glue, driftwood, pinecones (almost anything really!).
